Parmenides

Ciò che è, è. Ciò che non è, non è.

Whatever is, is. Whatever is not, is not.

Roberto Musmeci

Physicist, teacher of Mathematics and Physics at the Public Middle Class School, I have collaborated to develop Astronomical programs in C, VB6, Python and scripts.

My actual main interests are the foundations of Mathematics and Physics, Astronomy, Philosophy.

Prolegomena

Descartes wrote: “Cogito ergo sum”. From here on, nothing can be deduced without an act of faith.

Descartes stated his faith in God as a guarantor of the reality we believe we live in.

From a laic point of view, my act of faith is to believe that what my senses show me, is something real; that there is something “out there”, we call Universe, which is organised by physical laws and whose language is Mathematics (in the sense of defined rules we may, or we may not, understand in full). But self-consciousness (i.e. what makes one think “Cogito ergo sum”) is by itself incomprehensible since nothing can comprehend itself as a part. It would be a progressus in infinitum.

From these axioms I started my adventure at the in(de)finite research of what I (we) am (are), what the Universe is and how it works.

Remarks

Among the axioms there is not the faith in the deductive power of mind since “cogito ergo sum” is itself a deduction.

I am not so conceited to believe that I can reach even a little fraction of human knowledge. But some people has a daemon inside them, that makes them try to go beyond the borders. Scientists, Philosophers, Artists need to explore the unknown lands of Mind and Spirit. It is a selfish sentiment that, if sincerely pursued, is an enrichment of Mankind.
